What We Teach
Functional Yoga
This class is designed to allow for individual modifications—be it for those who are just starting to learn yoga, who are recovering from an injury, or who possess a physical limitation. You can stay seated on a chair or stand on your mat or even use hand weights if you're so inclined. Even challenging poses can be done with support whenever you wish. But this class is not your grandmother's chair yoga. After warm-up, we practice classic asanas, and we always end with a restorative pose to maximize the reduction of cortisol and promote a sense of wellbeing.
Yoga+
These classes often explore either a reflective theme, improved function of a body system, letting go of tension and stress, increased awareness and connection of breath and body, or sometimes, all of the above. We will center our mind, move our bodies, and restore our deepest selves. As our most challenging class, it will encourage you to grow your practice. This class is for all levels of experience. As always, modifications to poses will be provided.
Yin Yoga
When we stop using parts of our body or mind, they usually tend to stagnate, even atrophy. Yin yoga has developed to place greater emphasis on the connective tissues in our bodies: fascia, ligaments, tendons, even bones. It places less emphasis on muscle strength. The mind becomes involved when we hold poses for a longer time, and our reaction to stillness and sensation comes into play in interesting ways. Yin combines Hatha yoga with Chinese Taoist principles. It is not restorative yoga, but you can use props to assist your practice if you need. Come explore a different side of yoga, strengthen your physical and energy bodies, and stretch your mind.
“Easy Does It” Sunday Morning
This is a mixed level themed class which intertwines yogic teachings with breath work and light vinyasa. We’ll balance effort with ease, humility with confidence as we move together from our separate spaces. We’ll always end with a restorative pose so have your pillows close by. This class allows a bring a friend free pass.
Yoga Nidra
Also known as ‘yogic sleep’ this is a full length traditional guided relaxation sequence designed to take you near the edge of your subconscious mind. This level of awareness is receptive and registers your intentions and affirmations more deeply than in full wakefulness. An unrecorded Yoga Nidra in the comfort of your own home is a special treat. Already in your pajamas with no place to go and nothing to do, you just lie comfortably and listen without your video on. The only risk is falling asleep too soon, but even if you do, your body reaps the benefits of a deep rest.
